WHO I AM

The things I enjoy most about locuming is the exposure to new people, fresh ideas, and unique ways of doing things.  As a relief veterinarian I feel that the interests of your practice are my priority and under that umbrella I focus on providing high value work to your clients while establishing between the resources of the practice and my skills the best standard of care we can offer as a team.  All of this would never be possible without good communication on all levels and a smooth integration with the current staff.  This involves everything from a positive attitude and approach with clients and staff to clear communication on files which is extremely important when patients have an interruption in their usual doctor.  I am flexible with most protocols knowing that continuity often facilitates a consistent high level of care and will communicate if I have any recommendations in a particular case.

I initially grew up in a small town in northern BC with the exception of a couple years in Zambia which likely stimulated my sense for adventure and excitement for new and unique challenges.  Early on as a kid I got my animal fix running a government licenced wild bird rehab center out of our back yard and helping with my dad’s kennel while training and racing sled dogs.  Much of what I’ve learned about behaviour and my comfort with a lot of potentially nervous and exotic patients and comes from this early familiarity and watching animal’s communicate on their own level.

Later on, summers spent putting close to a million baby trees into the ground to pay for 2 degrees developed my work ethic and sense of efficiency and finally paid off when I graduated from WCVM class 2008.  Appreciation for wide variety experiences has let me to widen my skill set as a veterinarian and I believe that my confidence comes from being comfortable approaching things with an open mind.  I have spent most of the last 8 years working in the Calgary area, playing hard when I’m not working and spending time with my own “little fur babies”.  Should you have a need for a relief veterinarian for either a random day or extended period of time please feel free to contact me.  I look forward to helping and providing you with peace of mind.
